Where your data lives
Mostly on your phone. The Workbench keeps a database on the device containing your sleep, activity, readings and everything you log. That local copy is the primary one — the app works offline and reads from it.What goes to our servers
Three things:Your daily figures, to your own account
Your daily figures, to your own account
Sleep, activity, weight, readings — the things that make your account yours,
stored so they survive you losing your phone. Locked to your account: our
database enforces at the row level that you can only read your own.
Automatic backups of your local database

So that months of history are not lost to a broken phone or a reinstall. See

The shape of your data — which measurements your device provides, how often,
with what gaps. This is the diagnostic bundle, and it is the one you
explicitly choose to send each time.
What we look at, and what we do not
We look at patterns across testers: which devices provide what, how often people wear them, whether our calculations behave sensibly. We are not interested in your individual health, we are not qualified to interpret it, and nobody here is reviewing your sleep and forming opinions about it.Things worth knowing
- Your data is exportable. It is yours; you can take it out.
- Nothing is sold, and nothing goes to advertisers. There is no advertising business here to feed.
- Health data stays out of third-party analytics.
- Signing out wipes the local database for that account, which is why backups exist.
The honest caveats
- This is pre-release software. It is built carefully, but it has not been through the audit a shipping medical product would.
- Automatic backups go to our storage. If you would rather they did not, you can turn them off in Settings — but then a lost phone means lost history.
- Your wearable’s manufacturer already holds all of this data and has its own policies. The Workbench reads what Apple Health, Oura, Polar and the rest already hold.
