Why log it at all

One reading gives you a Vascular Age — an estimate of how your arteries compare with population norms.
You do not need special hardware. Any blood pressure cuff, borrowed if necessary. One reading stays valid for thirty days.People routinely assume Vascular Age needs a Withings Body Scan or an Oura ring. It does not.

Taking a reading properly

Blood pressure is genuinely sensitive to how you take it:
1

Sit still for five minutes first

Feet flat, back supported, not just after climbing stairs.
2

Cuff at heart height

Arm supported on a table, not held up.
3

Do not talk

Talking raises it measurably.
4

Take three readings, a minute apart

Why three, and why the first is discarded

The app takes up to three readings and ignores the first. That is the standard clinical protocol, not our invention. The first reading is reliably higher than the rest — partly the cuff inflating, partly you being mildly on edge about having your blood pressure taken. Discarding it gives a truer figure. It is discarded by position, not by being the highest, which is why the order you enter them matters.
One reading is better than none. If you only take one, log it — the app will use what it has.

What to enter

Systolic (the higher number), diastolic (the lower), and pulse if your cuff reports it — for each reading.

Today’s entries

Shows what you recorded, with the average as the value and the number of readings as context — because the average of the kept readings is the figure that gets used.
