Both are niche. If neither means anything to you, skip this page — you are not
missing anything you need.
Ketones
+ Add → Ketones.
Ketones are produced when your body burns fat rather than carbohydrate. They
rise during fasting and on very low-carbohydrate diets.
Units. mmol/L, always. There is no mg/dL convention for ketones, so nothing
is converted.
What to enter. The number, how it was measured, and when relative to eating.
Zero is not accepted. A blank strip read as 0.0 is a slip rather than a
measurement, and recording it would put a false floor in your history. If your
meter genuinely reads zero, that is below its detection threshold, not a zero
concentration.
Where it goes. Like glucose, into the timeseries store rather than a daily
summary.
Lumen
+ Add → Lumen.
Lumen is a handheld device you breathe into. It estimates whether you are
currently burning mostly fat or mostly carbohydrate.
What to enter. The level it gave you, and when you took it — wake-up
breath, before a meal, after training, and so on.
The timing is the important part. Only the wake-up breath goes into your
daily record, because that is the reading Lumen’s own methodology treats as the
meaningful daily measurement. Other readings are kept, and visible, but they do
not become “your Lumen for the day”.A post-lunch reading is a real fact about that moment. It is not a statement
about your metabolism that day, and the app does not treat it as one.
If you have neither device
Nothing here is required, and not using them is a perfectly good
answer.
