Fitbit has no direct connection here. It arrives through Google, which now owns it.

On an iPhone

Fitbit reaches the Workbench through Google Health. You connect your Google account, and your Fitbit data comes through it. That is the only route on iOS. Health Connect — the Android alternative — is not available on iPhone.
This matters for sleep, and it is worth knowing before you draw conclusions.

The sleep difference

Fitbit distinguishes two kinds of not-quite-asleep: awake and restless. The two routes into the Workbench treat them differently: So on an iPhone, your Fitbit nights will look slightly better than they do in the Fitbit app: some genuine disturbance is not carried across. This is a known limitation of the iOS path, not a bug, and it is exactly the kind of thing we need to document.

What you get

  • Sleep with stages, subject to the caveat above
  • Heart rate and resting heart rate
  • Steps, activity and calories
  • Blood oxygen, where your model measures it

Connecting

See Google Health. The connection is to Google, not to Fitbit directly, and your Fitbit account needs to be linked to your Google account already.
