Google Health is a cloud connection to data Google holds for you. On an iPhone it is the route for Fitbit, and for anything else in your Google health account.

Connecting

Data Sources → Google Health → Connect. You sign in with Google in a browser window and approve access. Your Fitbit account must already be linked to your Google account — Google requires that, and it is done in the Fitbit app.

What you get

Depends on what Google holds. For a Fitbit user, typically:
  • Sleep with stages, minus restless time (see Fitbit)
  • Heart rate and resting heart rate
  • Steps, activity and calories
  • Blood oxygen, on models that measure it

The reconnection you should expect

This connection needs renewing roughly every week. While the Workbench is in testing, Google’s approval is issued in a mode that expires quickly. When it lapses, cards that depend on Google Health go blank — not gradually, but all at once.
This is a limitation of testing-stage access, not something wrong with your account, and it will not apply to the finished app.

What it looks like

Everything Google-sourced empties at once, usually about a week after you last connected. Other sources carry on normally, which is a useful clue: if only your Fitbit figures vanished, this is almost certainly why.

The fix

Data Sources → Google Health → Connect, sign in again. Data resumes, including the days that were missing — the gap fills in retrospectively.
Worth building into the same habit as Discovery: once a week or so, open Data Sources, and reconnect anything asking for it.
