Several screens have a circular Eir button. Tapping it asks for a plain-language reading of what you are looking at.

Where you will find it

  • Sleep — an explanation of last night
  • Capacity — why today’s figure is what it is
  • Activities — when there is symptom context worth explaining, which in this build is rare

What it does

Takes what the screen is showing — your figures, your recent history, your context — and explains it in sentences rather than numbers. Useful when a number moved and you cannot see why, because it can look across several things at once: a poor score explained by a late night, a hard session two days ago, and a shortened night together.

What it will not do

Eir does not diagnose, and will not. It describes what your data shows. It will not name a condition, suggest one, or tell you what to do about your health. This is a deliberate constraint with real guardrails behind it, not a matter of tone. See What Vitality Tracker is not.
It also will not:
  • Tell you something your data does not support
  • Fill a gap with a plausible guess
  • Comment on things it has no information about
If it has nothing useful to say, it says so. That is the intended behaviour, not a failure.

Night Log awareness

On Sleep, if you use Night Log, Eir knows about the wakings you recorded and can refer to them. A night your device scored badly reads differently when you know the person was up twice with a child.

If an explanation seems wrong

Tell us. Eir explanations are generated, and while there are guardrails, an explanation that contradicts what is on screen is a real bug and one we very much want to hear about.
