The Fasting tab.

What it tracks

A plan, such as 18:6 — eighteen hours fasted, a six-hour eating window. Tap Edit to change it, and Advanced for more control. A running fast, with how long you have been fasted, how far through the plan you are, and when you can next eat. Start eating ends the fast and opens your window. Your eating window — first meal to last, on a given day. No wearable can see you eat, so this is driven by you: the button, and the meals you record.

Recording meals

Through Nutrition logging. The app takes the first and last meal of each day as the window’s edges. You do not have to log everything you eat to get a useful fasting picture — just the first and last thing.

What it shows

  • The current fast, if one is running, and how long it has been
  • Today’s eating window
  • Recent history

An honest limitation

A gap in recording is not a fast. If you log nothing for two days, the app must not conclude that you fasted for two days — that would be inventing a health event you never had.The app is careful about this distinction, and it is worth knowing about, because it means an unrecorded day shows as unrecorded rather than as an impressive fast.

Why we care

Meal timing shapes glucose, sleep and recovery, and the eating window is one of the few genuinely actionable things in the app. For us, first and last meal are also the markers we lay over your glucose trace, so a rise at 10:30 can be read as breakfast rather than a mystery.
