The Discovery tab. Why it matters is covered separately — this page is what you see.

What it does

Interrogates each connected source and reports what it can actually provide: which measurements exist, how far back, how often, and where the gaps are. Not what the manufacturer advertises. What your device actually hands over.

The cards

One per connected source — Apple Health, Oura, Polar, Withings, Google Health. Each shows what that source offers and what it does not. Sources are queried independently, so a slow one does not hold up the rest.

Running it

Open the tab and let it work. A few seconds per source; cloud sources are slower than local ones because they are asking a server.

Send to VT

The button on each card. Tap it and the report comes to us. It confirms when sent. What goes: the shape of your data — measurements available, how far back, frequency, gaps. Labelled with your device name. What does not: your health history. This is a report about your data, not a copy of it.

Reading it yourself

The cards are worth a look even setting aside what we get from them. This is the clearest picture you will get of what your wearable actually provides — and it frequently surprises people who assumed their watch measured something it does not.

How often

Every week or two, and whenever something changes — a new device, a firmware update, a source you stopped using.
This is the one job here that is purely for our benefit. Everything else you do for yourself and we learn from as a side effect. Thirty seconds, once a fortnight.
